What’s her prerogative?

I work with someone who is at the same level as me, but for some reason gives off the vibe that she’s my superior. I’m sure I’ve mentioned her before, but she is the one who incessantly calls and e-mails me with administrative requests.

Anyway, today I caught an oversight by my group - we had a bunch of printed urls with the format domain.com/nyt but no standalone domain url set up for our upcoming campaign. I e-mailed my boss and the girl in question here just pointing it out and stating that I wanted to run it by them before having the update made. So “Elizabeth” e-mails me back saying:

Ad Guy - that’s a good point. Hopefully Adam and team has already requested the general domain as the default, but please check. Correct, this domain should automatically default to the no offer landing page.

Please also ask Adam/Mike when the URLS in the attached spreadsheet will be live. Again, our team here should be able to test all URLS (and corresponding landing pages) prior to m/dd to ensure everything is live and working. Please be sure to cc me on the email to Adam/Mike.

Now, doesn’t that sound like instruction?

[…] I take this as a cue for me to update him on everything that I’ve been working on over the past 2 weeks since I’ve last sat down and spoken with him even though I’d rather talk to him about more general issues since I so rarely see him. Then he asks me if I’ve been helping Sarah, the previously mentioned girl who is the same level as me, yet is like a thorn in my side. The question confuses me and I don’t understand why he’s asking. My response is a simple “no,” and I keep moving to the next topic. Why would he think that I would be ‘helping’ my counterpart? I would cover her in an emergency, but I’m not her assistant. In retrospect, maybe I should have probed a little and asked him to clarify the question, but then again maybe letting things be was the best solution. […]
