Trouble with the media team
Our media team is out of a different office from where I am, as seems to be the case in the agency world all too often. I’ve been here for all of 3 weeks, so I introduce myself to our media contact via e-mail and ask for specs for some banners we’re building. I get no response even though she’s responding to other people’s e-mail. I follow up via phone and leave a message.
We’re on a tight deadline and we need these specs ASAP, so we decide to call someone else on her team, who, with any luck will be able to forward those specs to us. So we call the guy who is her boss, and we’re not accusatory or pointing any fingers; we just want to get these specs.
Not 10 minutes later, she sends out an e-mail CCing like 20 people, and not even addressed to me, courtly explaining why she can’t provide what we’re asking for. Okay, why couldn’t she just respond to me in the first place….
Then yesterday, we receive what’s supposed to be the more detailed version of the specs. What it is, in fact, is an excel sheet with specs for each site we’re running on on a different tab - totally unconsolidated and unusable as is. I e-mailed her asking if they could put format it so that it’s usable out of the box. Putting together an easy-to-read spec sheet is media’s job (I didn’t tell her this), but something tells me that I won’t get a response from her.
